I-10 near downtown will be more colorful than usual Sunday evening.
TXDOT and the City of El Paso announced that the downtown arches will be illuminated in various colors on Sunday, June 12 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, which are displayed on the official LGBT flag and is often used as a symbol of gay pride.
This is the first time TXDOT and the city of El Paso use the downtown arches to show support of a cause. Officials remind the public not to stop on the freeway to take photos as it is not safe. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for 9:30 at San Jacinto Plaza.
