Commuting in El Paso is not as bad as you may think, when you compare traffic to other cities.
Tom Tom, a navigation and mapping company has released its annual report of the most congested cities in America, and El Paso came in number 53 out of 100 cities with a population over 800,000. The report analyzed more than 389,000 miles that Tom Tom users drove on El Paso streets in 2015. The results are surprising. According to the report, El Pasoans will spend an extra 52 hours of travel time a year while stuck in traffic. While a traffic jam on I-10 can delay your commute by 14 minutes. Travel times due to congestion in El Paso has also been on a steady rise; up ten percent from 2008.
The busiest travel times on a weekday morning is between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., the busiest in the evening is between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The busiest travel day of the year in 2015 was on Saturday, April 25.
Other Texas cities ranked were; Houston: 11; San Antonio: 32; Austin: 21; Dallas/Ft. Worth: 34. The city with the worst traffic in America was Los Angeles.
