At 22,309 students registered for the spring semester, The University of Texas at El Paso has achieved its highest spring enrollment yet. This marks an ongoing record-breaking enrollment trend for the University.
This increase demonstrates UTEP’s commitment to providing an accessible and excellent education to the people of the Paso del Norte region.
The University has been ranked among the Top 10 universities in the nation for three consecutive years and is rated the #1 university in the nation for improving the social mobility of students for four consecutive years by Washington Monthly magazine.
“As one of Texas’s leading universities, students know that they can get an affordable, high quality education at UTEP,” said Gary Edens, Ed.D, vice president for student affairs. “Our focus continues to be on the El Paso region and we are very proud that so many people look to us as their top choice for pursuing a university degree. We welcome all of our new students and wish them the very best during their first semester as a Miner!”
UTEP saw an enrollment increase of 2.6 percent in spring 2016 compared to spring 2015. The number of graduate students increased by 3.5 percent over the past year.
“This spring’s enrollment increase at the graduate level reflects UTEP’s critical role in building the advanced workforce that will be crucial to future economic growth in the region,” said Charles Ambler, Ph.D., dean of the UTEP Graduate School.
In addition to its many academic achievements, UTEP’s ongoing successful efforts to ensure affordability and access for its student population have been widely noted by the federal government, national foundations, media and student advocacy groups. The U.S. Department of Education has highlighted UTEP’s extraordinarily low net price as evidence of success in responding to the needs of parents and students who are highly sensitive to the cost and value of a college education. At $6,089 per academic year, UTEP’s net price is the lowest among all emerging research universities in Texas and among all Carnegie-classified research universities nationally.
